MedTech Comes Together at the WSGR Medical Device Conference 2019
This past Thursday and Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the WSGR Medical Device Conference in San Francisco. It was a wonderful gathering of some of the brightest and most successful medtech entrepreneurs and their business partners from around the globe.Â
It was an opportunity to listen and learn about new emerging technologies, reconnect with some old friends, and network within the field. I met members of the newest generation of medtech innovators – among them engineers, physicians and other various healthcare workers with bright ideas drawn from personal experiences. I talked with passionate CEOs, angel investors, VCs, and specialists in every sector of the medtech industry.
Panels discussed all stages of the innovative process: IP to funding to acquisitions, mergers, strategic partnerships, and IPOs. We listened to many stories of company success, and some spectacular failures, all of which brought valuable lessons for the audience. We learned about the latest advances in surgical robotics, AI and machine learning and even the effect of the current trade war on international medtech investments.
I left the conference feeling refreshed and energized after meeting so many brilliant people, all working hard to create the future of healthcare – a very bright future that is safer with better outcomes and one that offers patients improved treatments for many common problems.
