About Dr. Hill
Background
Dr. Brad Hill, a native Texan, studied biochemistry and genetic disease at Texas A&M University and was later inspired by Dr. Michael DeBakey and other pioneers in cardiovascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine where he received his medical degree. During his residency at the University of Kentucky, he realized his true passion for vascular surgery and research. Upon finishing his residency he came to Silicon Valley to pursue his dreams of becoming a vascular surgeon, innovator, and serial entrepreneur. He completed fellowships in vascular and endovascular surgery at Stanford University and served on the academic faculty at Stanford for five years and then joined Kaiser Permanente and became a full partner in The Permanente Medical Group after only one year. During his time at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Hill served as Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Santa Clara Medical Center for 17 years, Chair of Vascular Surgery for the Northern California Region for nine years, and Chair and Co-Chair of Vascular Surgery for the National Kaiser Permanente Federation for seven years. In recognition of his medical student and resident teaching, clinical research accomplishments, excellence in patient care, and strategic leadership, Dr. Hill was promoted to Stanford University Clinical Professor of Surgery (Affiliated)
Patient Care
Dr. Hill is fully committed to the highest standards of patient care. He stresses the importance of a healthy lifestyle for disease prevention and optimal medical management when disease occurs. When surgery is necessary, Dr. Hill works hard to tailor the treatment for each individual patient to enable a fast recovery and to ensure the best possible results. This oftentimes requires an extensive evaluation and thorough discussion before scheduling surgical or catheter-based interventions. Dr. Hill offers a clear line of communication to all his patients so they never feel isolated or forgotten in their time of need.
Make an AppointmentInnovation
In addition to surgery and patient care, Dr. Hill maintains a strong interest in technology and innovation. In 2005, Dr. Hill co-founded VasoNova, Inc. where he created the vision for a ground breaking catheter guidance system for placing central venous catheters. Now known as the Arrow Vascular Positioning System (VPS), the technology is FDA approved as an alternative to x-ray confirmation of catheter location. In 2011, VasoNova was acquired by Teleflex Inc. His innovation is now used worldwide to help patients start life saving chemotherapy and antibiotics without delays or the need for x-ray exposure. Dr. Hill’s other innovations range from surgical outcomes registries to determine how well surgical treatments are working to new devices and techniques for treating varicose veins. Dr. Hill’s clinical research and innovative work have resulted in more than 50 peer reviewed publications in medical journals and 19 issued U.S. patents. Dr. Hill always asks himself, “How can we do a better job?” This mindset keeps his work interesting and a constant challenge as he strives to improve patient care.
